Comprehensive Impaired-Driving Traffic Enforcement (CITE)& DRE Recertification
CITE is a statewide training course for law enforcement officers focused on comprehensive impaired-driving enforcement, including both alcohol- and drug-related cases. The course features updates on enforcement practices, legal case reviews, laboratory workflows, and victim advocacy, providing valuable professional development for all officers.
For DREs, attendance also fulfills the recertification requirement. DREs complete a proficiency evaluation during the course, and upon successful completion, are recertified for the next two-year period by their state coordinator.
This course gives officers the opportunity to enhance investigative skills, stay current on best practices, and maintain DRE certification while contributing to traffic safety statewide.

On the DRE’s expiration date, the DRE status automatically becomes “expired,” and the DRE is not certified to conduct enforcement evaluations until the status becomes “recertified.”
